Next Episode of The Railway 24/7 is
Documentary series offering a behind the scenes look at life working at TransPennine Express, from control room to maintenance depot, and drivers to cleaners.
In the first episode, a derailed train threatens to bring the network to a halt during the busiest time of the year. Meanwhile at HQ, the bosses decide to bring in a new timetable which sees hundreds of services scrapped.
The network is severely disrupted by the 80mph winds of Storm Ciara, leaving lines blocked by fallen trees and stranded passengers in need of a new route home. British transport police officers Tom and Chris take on a demanding weekend night shift, and have to deal with a group of young men who refuse to leave Stockport station. Conductor Jess dreads the arrival of a crowd of football fans - but they turn out to be a much more welcome arrival than expected.
Commercial director Darren launches a new scheme to tackle passengers not paying for tickets with on-the-spot fines and penalties. Meanwhile, passengers raise the alarm about an abandoned black rucksack on the Huddersfield to Manchester route, and in the maintenance depot, Carl and Steve are replacing a five-tonne bogie, the structure that connects the wheels to the carriages.
Officers confront a group of young people who are dangerously close to a high-speed railway line, yet despite their warnings, British Transport Police officers Be and Kayleigh worry that they are not getting the message. Meanwhile in Ardwick train depot, a Class 185 has a cracked manifold, and engineer Steve has to drain off hundreds of litres of toxic coolant from the train before he can get at the damaged component.
