The Yorkshire Vet is a documentary series about Yorkshire vet Julian Norton, his business partner Peter Wright and their team as they administer modern-day medical and surgical aid to creatures great and small. From bulldogs to bullocks, there are no creatures too large or too small for these vets.
Shona Searson rushes to an emergency calving and Peter Wright's patient is a Samoyed - a dog originally bred for herding reindeer and pulling sleds in the Arctic. When a local care farm wants some new therapy alpacas, Julian Norton helps out by calling his friend and alpaca expert, Jacki. Also, Rohin Aojula meets an unusual looking sheep.
On his night shift, Rohin Aojula rushes to help a young farmer with an emergency - a ewe has pushed out her uterus after giving birth to twins. Julian Norton operates on a Dalmatian with an eye ulcer, which gets him and Lucy thinking about the famous film - and fashion. Facing a feral two-year-old colt, Matt Smith needs his dart gun skills to sedate the huge horse.
Peter Wright faces an emergency when a spaniel is rushed in after being hit by a car, while Shona Searson feels the pressure when dealing with a pregnant pedigree cow. Matt Smith gets a shock when he X-rays a giant tortoise to discover 10 eggs stuck inside her. Julian Norton is busy at his old friend Rodney's farm in the middle of lambing season, including a new arrival with eye trouble and a tup with a mysterious lump on his knee.
Mother and daughter farmers rush their ewe to the Huddersfield practice's farm animal centre, where Shona Searson immediately suspects a Caesarean might be needed to save the first-time mum's twin lambs. Peter Wright needs to keep his cool when dealing with the Greens' calf Frosty, who's a bit of a hot head. Matt Smith and Rohin Aojula investigate the incredible tale of the tiger who came for much more than just tea in their village of Holmfirth, back in the 1940s.
A puppy born during the Thirsk practice's first ever operation is now expecting a litter of her own, which turns into another emergency surgery for Julian Norton and his team. Peter Wright gets soaked out in a North Yorkshire field as he sees a sheep with a nasty looking rash on his face. Matt Smith tries a traditional technique - transferring the stomach contents of a healthy cow to a poorly one.
When a little girl's precious pony suffers a nasty injury in a field near the North Yorkshire coast, Peter Wright performs emergency 'al fresco' surgery. He then heads to Whitby to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary, where they are hoping two swans who have been bullied will be ready for release. Julian Norton visits a young therapy sheep whose owner is extremely worried because he's losing wool.
Matt Smith receives an emergency call from brother and sister farmers, whose cow is struggling in labour. A large African leopard tortoise wins plenty of admirers at the practice in Kirkbymoorside, but she's struggling to walk on her sore back legs. Martin Paterson operates on a Maltese terrier whose life is in danger because of a hernia preventing her from using the toilet.
