The Yorkshire Vet is a documentary series about Yorkshire vet Julian Norton, his business partner Peter Wright and their team as they administer modern-day medical and surgical aid to creatures great and small. From bulldogs to bullocks, there are no creatures too large or too small for these vets.
Peter Wright has a dream that, across the country, animal lovers could have wonderful places where they can forever remember the pets who have enriched their lives. Cameras follow him as he embarks on a passion project to make that dream come true. It takes him to Sussex to meet the country's first animal chaplain and her church's pet memorial garden, inspiring him to create something similar back in Yorkshire.
It is after 11pm, and Matt Smith rushes out to help a cow who has suffered a massive prolapse after giving birth. Cameras also focus on 12-year-old Boston Terrier Rambo, who has a very sore mouth. As Julian Norton investigates, he thinks he's spotted a serious problem.
Julian Norton performs one of his most challenging and delicate operations ever on Milo, a young girl's hamster. Matt Smith has an unusual job too - TB testing a couple of badger cubs. Peter Wright rushes to an emergency at local farm, where a rare breed ewe has given birth to one lamb already.
Shona Searson attends to Pedro the bull, who has a bad case of sunburn and needs to be back in action as a key part of the farm's breeding programme. Julian Norton runs for cover when a 12-foot Burmese python with a serious eye problem arrives at the practice, and Peter Wright treats a film star rooster.
After hearing dispiriting news from a local vet about his spaniel Lily's prospects, a heartbroken newlywed travels 60 miles for a second opinion from family friend Peter Wright. He tests for cancer by embracing AI technology for the first time. And Julian Norton deals with a couple of sheep who need castrating so they can play their part at a local educational farm for children.
Peter Wright nurses an injured tawny owl and treats a calf's neck lump. At Cannon Hall Farm, Shona Searson scans two mares, hoping to continue beloved shire horse Herkules's legacy. David Melleney battles to save a stuck lamb, while Julian Norton operates on Barney, a 12-year-old spaniel with a sinister paw lump.
Julian Norton supports widowed friend Chris Jeffery as he returns to farming and begins lambing, while Peter Wright operates on former footballer Bernie Slaven's Irish setter. Rohin Aojula investigates a cow walking sideways.
Matt Smith sedates amorous wallaby Andrew ahead of castration, while Peter Wright tackles a difficult breech lamb delivery. Julian Norton operates on elderly boxer Benson, Rohin Aojula treats an alpaca's eye and tries spinning fleece, and Matt tours a new reptile and aquatic centre with his family.
Peter Wright treats Pickle, an African pygmy hedgehog with a large lump, while Matt Smith investigates rescue pig Truffles' worsening mobility. At a wildlife reserve, Shona Searson and David Melleney examine a Highland cow's suspected eye tumour. Meanwhile, Julian Norton enjoys a festive husky ride through North Yorkshire's Dalby Forest.
Peter Wright tries to save a newborn lamb who has an unusual birth defect, Shona Searson heads out to see Cannon Hall Farm's ailing shire horse Grace. Rohin Aojula spots a pheasant on the road that's been hit by a car, and despite it being his afternoon off he takes the bird to the practice and does his best to save him.
Peter Wright treats mischievous spaniel Flynn after he swallows part of a glove, while Julian Norton operates on cat Ella's painful eyelids. David Melleney helps a Ryeland ewe give birth, and Matt Smith and Rohin Aojula treat a prolapsed hen. Later, Rohin joins Peter and the Nicholson brothers for a lively, competitive lawn bowls challenge.
