Tyler Perry's House of Payne is a comedy series about a multigenerational, working class family who experiences all of life's struggles with faith, love and most importantly humor. Curtis, the uncle and head of the household, has his life and home turned upside down when an unexpected event forces his nephew, CJ, played by Allen Payne, and CJ's kids to move into the house, putting three generations under one roof. This chaotic living situation takes its toll on cranky Pops, who is reluctant to have his routine disturbed. In addition to CJ's family, Curtis and Ella's son, Calvin, a wise-cracking college kid with no money, hangs out at home which makes it impossible for Pops to have any peace and quiet. It soon becomes evident just how wide the generation gap is, as the family tries to find a way to coexist through all of life's hilarious ups and downs.
Ella's mother comes to visit. Meanwhile, Janine texts C.J. a sexy picture of herself.
Calvin and Miranda salvage what they can from the remains of their burned condo, move in with C.J. and Janine, and gear up for a legal battle with Tracie over Calvin Jr.
Deshawn joins a gang. Ella and Floyd do everything they can to stop him. Calvin gets on C.J.'s nerves after he and Miranda move in with C.J. and Janine.
One of Deshawn's teachers has a radical idea about helping Deshawn at school: The gifted program. Calvin and Miranda hire a contractor to start the renovations of their condo.
Deshawn gets in trouble for bullying a kid at school. Miranda and Janine begin fighting over petty things.
C.J. forgets Janine's three year sober anniversary. Ella gets Deshawn an ugly outfit for school picture day.
After C.J. has to lay off firefighters due to budget cuts, Roland has to use his PR skills to avoid altercation.
Calvin and Miranda plan Calvin Jr.'s birthday party. Curtis and Ella have trouble with the HOA.
CJ hires Calvin, but Calvin's job performance fails to impress. Meanwhile, a bored Curtis brushes off retirement by taking up painting.

Unaware that Calvin has been shot, Miranda takes out her fury on Curtis and Ella for Calvin missing Christian's christening and being unreachable.
As Calvin fights for his life in the hospital, Ella has had enough of Miranda's behavior, and Curtis and C.J. meet with the police to begin searching for the perpetrator.
Calvin is still unconscious from being shot, but his gap in health insurance places the family in a financial dilemma, while a detective begins investigating Travis Harris.
Calvin regains consciousness and begins his slow recovery, as Curtis and Ella's coverage of his astronomical medical bills forces them to give up moving into their new house.
With Calvin in pain, unable to remember his assailant and having nightmares about being shot, Curtis and Ella believe they are better equipped than Miranda to care for him.

When Malik brings his college girlfriend Summer home, the family has difficulty accepting her New Age energy-reading ways and Malik's plan to travel with her to Africa.
