Three generations of the Ottink family work together on one farm. Each has a different vision for the future of their beloved dairy farm. Woeste Grond shows the emotional and recognizable dynamics of a farming family balancing tradition and modernity.
Farmer Dinant Ottink and Vera have to tell their three children that they are getting divorced. Their daughter Romy finds this particularly difficult. Their son Snoek is bothered by even more impending changes surrounding De Weuste farm and finds support in new friends. Dinant's new girlfriend Lianne accidentally meets the entire Ottink family.
Snoek and Grandpa Bats are spreading manure right next to the investors' reception hosted by project developer Fleur. Snoek sees his uncle, real estate agent Otto Ottink, boasting among the guests. Otto's attempt to impress Fleur and the people from Kavel-Invest goes horribly wrong.
Daughter Britt is overdue. Grandmother Grada reluctantly has to separate Dinant and Lianne. Snoek catches Romy and Layla in his shed and gets very upset.
Dinant feels obligated to take Vera to Regge Culinair for the sake of the children. Lianne is not happy about this. Sacha makes it clear to Britt that he does not want children yet. Dinant and Vera end their evening on a pleasant note.
Otto shows his wife Tessa how much he loves her. Their children find this distasteful. Romy confesses that she is in love with Layla. The BGV (Farmers' Ground Resistance) waits for a politician at her home with torches and Snoek crosses a moral line.
Bats calls the family together for an urgent family meeting. Lianne is the only one who is not welcome. Sacha reacts strongly to Britt's pregnancy. Layla and Romy leave the party with an excuse.
Dinant says he longs for a life in the city, much to Lianne's dismay. Grada sees an opportunity for De Weuste's survival. Marloes ends her relationship with Gregory.
A fox has wreaked havoc on the farm. Romy and Dinant begin to notice that Britt is acting strangely. Tessa shares her childhood trauma with Otto. Snoek couldn't care less about laws and rules.
Britt tells her family that she is pregnant. The reactions are pretty mixed. Dog N'Oont causes Lianne to get into a fight with Vera. Vera reacts clumsily to Romy's homosexuality.
Bats' 67th birthday is celebrated in style. But not everything goes down well with Bats. Under pressure from her son, neighbor Netty makes a decision that turns out badly for the Ottinks. Vera realizes she is losing her place in the family and suffers a mental breakdown.
Snoek is recognized during the BGV's nighttime operation. Britt finds Vera's concern oppressive and makes it clear to her mother that she is too much. Grada discovers that Snoek is part of the BGV and that he has a gun. Bats has no intention of relinquishing control of De Weuste.
Vera steamrolls over everyone to reclaim her role within the family. Romy is intensely heartbroken. In Dinant's eyes, Lianne can do nothing right. Things seem to be going more smoothly between Vera and Dinant again. Lianne sees this and sadly leaves De Weuste.
Dinant tries to convince Bats that the future should resemble the past. Otto and Tessa hatch a devious plan. Vera pulls out all the stops to avoid becoming a grandmother.
The rescue plan for De Weuste falls through and Snoek doesn't trust Otto at all. Mitchell suffers from not being ‘normal'. Snoek and the BGV come to the aid of an old farmer and set off heavily armed. Layla disapproves of the BGV's use of violence.
Tessa is fed up with her extra pounds and suffers from hysterical mood swings. Lianne is unhappy with her job at the restaurant. Vera is fed up with not having a place of her own. Dinant is fed up with his spontaneous decision. The asylum seekers' center in the neighborhood is going to expand.
Romy is ashamed of Snoek's attitude towards asylum seekers. Lianne moves to De Weuste and gives expensive items from her past to her niece Doo. Grada thinks Lianne is too dominant.
Tessa has doubts about Otto's plans for De Weuste. Dinant and Grada see Snoek becoming more radical. Vera feels completely displaced, and Otto takes advantage of this. The asylum seekers' center is the target of a violent protest.
Mitchell doesn't want to be treated like a little kid forever. Grada tries to teach Snoek a lesson, but it mainly raises questions. Bats' stubbornness puts his life in danger.
Bats' accident brings the family closer together. Schreurs does not accept Snoek's intention to leave the BGV. Wim and Doo sell Lianne's expensive designer items online to a strange buyer.
Fleur knows exactly how to seduce Otto. Bats considers his opinion on the state of affairs more important than his health. Lianne discovers that her ex Yhugo is alive and well. Bats collapses in front of Dinant.
