Next Episode of Travel Man: 48 Hours in... is
Season 4 / Episode 3 and airs on 27 March 2017 19:30
Richard Ayoade takes a ruthlessly efficient approach to travel, covering everything top tourist destinations have to offer in just 48 hours.
Due to overwhelming availability, Richard Ayoade returns as Travel Man, bringing sense and order to the potential chaos of the mini break. This time he visits Russia's cultural capital St Petersburg with comedian Rob Beckett. Together they embark on a fast and funny, post-Soviet itinerary, that includes an armoured tank, fish eggs, vodka, ice, culture, more ice, and a herring in a fur coat. They also visit a retro communist-era apartment popular with the hipster crowd.
Richard Ayoade and comedian Aisling Bea make a whirlwind tour of Hungary's fairy tale capital, with selfies, goulash, cake, pubs, liquor, and a game of chess at the thermal baths.
Richard Ayoade heads for Tenerife for a multi-packed mini break with Lena Dunham, writer, director, actor, and creator of Girls. In the north of the island the pair visit a guachinche pop-up restaurant, with goat stew. They explore the barren lunar landscape around the volcanic Mount Teide and spend the evening stargazing. There is also a sculpture tour, including Henry Moore and Joan Miro; some layered coffee; a spot of golf; and a search for whales.
Richard Ayoade is joined by Jack Dee for a clock conscious exploration of Naples. The result is two days rich in humour, history, culture and pizza. Richard and Jack take a guided tour on vintage Vespas in the city's chaotic traffic. They attend a pizza-making class and then head to the volcanic ruins of Herculaneum. Day two sees them visit the Isle of Capri and play the lottery using la smorfia, a local guide to the meaning of dreams. Richard will never look at a squid or a guitar in the same way again.
Rebel Wilson joins Richard Ayoade on a rapid-fire tour of the Italian city, taking in as much as they can in just two days. They race past iconic works of art including Botticelli's Venus and Michelangelo's David, take in some street art, go on a rafting trip down the River Arno, climb to the top of the city's cathedral and dine on a traditional tripe sandwich.
