In the last decade, two million Americans have attempted to leave behind civilization in favor of life off-the-grid – but most have failed. For the hundreds of families who decide to become homesteaders, the learning curve is a steep one. Now comes Homestead Rescue. Struggling homesteaders across the country are turning expert homesteader Marty Raney--along with his daughter Misty Raney, a farmer, and son Matt Raney, a hunter and fisherman--to teach them the necessary skills to survive the wilderness. The stakes are high, but the Raney family is determined to prepare these families for nature's worst and set them up for success. Each family faces the ultimate decision: will they tough out their first year or pack up and return to civilization?
A family of recent transplants from California longing for ranch life in central Texas finds themselves on one of the most unsuitable homesteads the Raneys have seen yet. To save them, the Raneys must execute a total homestead makeover.
A young homesteader and her military boyfriend face a ticking clock in the East Georgia woods. Mired deep in muddy clay, the Raneys must solve the unsanitary conditions, poor soil and crumbling infrastructure before the next big rains hit the homestead.
As the Raneys scramble to ready their 40-acre homestead for winter, Marty gets an urgent SOS call from a fellow Alaskan. A tragic plane crash has destroyed access to his homestead across a treacherous river, and he's dangerously unprepared.
Virginia homesteaders are on the brink after the unexplained disappearance of their water and food sources. The Raneys race to solve these mysteries, creatively revamping their infrastructure to give them the confidence to complete their dream cabin.
Two struggling homesteaders fight a losing battle against Maine's brutal winters and boglands. To save them, the Raneys bring all-new ingenuity to dry out their unfinished cabin and create higher ground for animals above the soggy New England soil.
