Hubert ohne Staller

The police are hot on the heels of a cunning gang of burglars who have been stealing valuable paintings from Wolfratshausen's high society for some time now, without leaving any traces behind. This makes the case almost impossible for Hubert and Girwidz to solve.

Riedl is buying doughnuts at the Rattlinger bakery when a confused woman with blood on her clothes appears. However, she is unharmed and the blood is not hers. She is Magdalena Meier, who has escaped from a psychiatric hospital.

Because a witness failed to appear at the police station despite being summoned, Hubert and Girwidz set out to find the man. Too late—he's found dead in the settling tank, his workplace. Ulrike Mettmann, the head of the wastewater treatment plant, assumes it was a tragic accident. But it quickly becomes clear: someone intervened. When it also turns out that the tap water is contaminated, a state of emergency is declared in Wolfratshausen. For Hubert, however, this warning comes too late. He has already drunk some of the contaminated water… Sabine Kaiser takes the ailing Hubert off the case. While the residents of Wolfratshausen hoard water supplies and Riedl is tasked with ensuring the drinking water supply in the precinct, the chief takes over the investigation alongside Girwidz.

Precinct Chief Sabine Kaiser's lease is terminated because the landlord needs the apartment for personal use. While searching for a new place to live, she tours a small, chic house in a residential neighborhood in Wolfratshausen with a real estate agent. While looking into the boiler room, she discovers the body of a man whom neither the agent, Tanja Kolbinger, nor the homeowner, Tobias Ackermann, can identify. When Hubert and Girwidz begin their investigation, the deceased turns out to be a "vacancy caretaker" for the Hinterholzer real estate agency. He had not only kept various houses in good condition for showings but had also occasionally lived in them without his boss's knowledge.

A police operation takes place in the Lauber couple's yard. At the Rattlinger Bakery, Yazid found a suicide note in which Mr. Lauber announced his intention to murder his wife and then take his own life. Hubert and Girwidz are all the more relieved to find the couple—who appear to be in the midst of a divorce proceeding—alive and well. Lauber also claims he didn't write the letter, so the police leave. A grave mistake, as will soon become clear… When medical examiner Fuchs determines that the suicide note was apparently written by Lauber after all, Hubert and Girwidz have a bad feeling.

Hubert and Girwidz are supposed to calm down an upset guest in a country hotel. Then, a maid screams, having discovered the body of a young woman with a gaping head wound. Hubert and Girwidz find out that the apartment of the dead Rebecca Lang is just around the corner, and they also discover her positive pregnancy test. Both of these things raise questions.

Karsten Heimreich has a brilliant business idea: He creates a bike tour modeled after Beverly Hills, which leads past the villas of the stars on Lake Starnberg. He calls his offering STARnberg. His business partner is Yazid, who provides him with the current addresses. The semi-legal tour is a hit with tourists, but not so much with the celebrities involved.

A perpetrator confesses at the police station—for Hubert, this behavior is suspicious in itself. Musician Siggi Prechtl claims that he pushed his twin brother Paul into Lake Starnberg, causing him to drown.

Pathologist Dr. Fuchs had a wild time at a beach party thrown by the volunteer fire department. The next morning, however, the pathologist is in for a rude awakening: she finds the body of firefighter Markus Moser buried in the sand.

Hubert and Girwidz are actually only supposed to make sure that a construction worker observes the midday break and puts down his jackhammer. But then Girwidz stumbles across a finger encased in concrete.

Hubert and Girwidz are on patrol. While Girwidz lectures about the highlights of his recent vacation in Egypt, Hubert is slowed down by a tractor. His attention is drawn to a hiking boot lying in the middle of the road.
