The plot of the miniseries takes place in Prague at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, when Prague did not have a very friendly impression at first glance: Gray crowds in front of half-empty shops, houses decorated with peeling posters commemorating famous anniversaries. Her night street is gripped by a completely new, terrifying phenomenon - young sexual rapists with sadistic tendencies. Elite criminal Jiří Markovič sets out on the trail of these very criminals.The miniseries not only follows the process of the investigation and capture of Ladislav Hojer, but above all offers an insight into the specific relationship between Hojer and Markovic. In each volume, he also provides insight into other closed cases that shaped Markovič's career as an elite investigator and illustrate the development of his method.
October 1981. A dead woman is found near the Motol stream. The Prague murder squad led by Jiří Marković suspects that he is dealing with a sexual deviant. Nobody knows that this is the beginning of an investigation into one of the most famous Czechoslovak serial killers.

Ladislav Hojer gets closer and closer to investigator Jiří Marković and confesses to another murder, this time in Brno. The investigators don't believe him at first, but gruesome details gradually come to light that shock everyone.
The endless investigation is beginning to have an effect on the otherwise peaceful family life of Major Markovič. To make him happy, Ladislav Hojer confesses to another murder. This time on the train from Prague to Děčín. A detailed reconstruction is required.
Jiří Markovič receives an unexpected gift from Ladislav Hojer for Christmas. Confessions to two more murders. In Slovakia at the Ružín dam and on the Děčín floodplain. Markovič receives a clear order from the head of the crime branch - to complete the investigation of these two murders and close the entire case.
