The Great Australian Bake Off features ten or twelve passionate home bakers competing in a grueling elimination series, crafting a mouth-watering selection of cakes, pies, tarts, pastries, bread, biscuits, and desserts, all in the hope of being crowned Australia's Best Home Baker. In each episode, contestants are challenged with a signature bake, a technical bake, and a showstopper, with judges critiquing their creations and ultimately selecting a "Star Baker" and eliminating one contestant each week. The show tests their baking skills, creativity, and prowess under pressure.
Twelve of Australia's best amateur bakers take on three different cake challenges - a Sculptural cake, an Ultimate Chocolate cake and a Burn Away Cake.
The remaining amateur bakers compete in three challenges for Bread Week to make Filled Baguettes, Concha Bread and Decorative Braided Loaves.
In Biscuit Week, our remaining amateur bakers compete to make their signature Standing Cookies, Caprese Sandwich Biscuits, and Floating Biscuit Boats.
In Savoury Week, our remaining amateur bakers create Decorated Quiches, Gougeres and showstopping Sausage Roll Centrepieces.
In Greek Week, the remaining bakers tackle Loukoumades, a Tsoureki with Ouzo-Marzipan Eggs, and Mythology-themed Filo creations.
In Spring Week, the remaining bakers take on Cupcake Bouquets, a Raspberry Pavlova, and a Showstopper Tart Within a Tart.
In Surprise Week, the remaining bakers create Lamingtons, a Surprise Pie, and Remote-Control Vehicle Cakes.
