Next Episode of Chopped Junior is
The stakes will be big, but the competitors small as junior chefs ages 10 to 14 compete for a chance to earn the title of Chopped Junior Champion on the new series Chopped Junior, premiering Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8|7c. They bring their unbridled energy, limitless talent and big personalities to the Chopped kitchen. Like in regular Chopped, $10,000 is on the line, but only one kid can win the monetary prize. In addition to the regular judges, renowned chefs and celebrities will take seats behind the judges' table, including Sam Kass, Sam Talbot, Michelle Bernstein, Martha Stewart, Laila Ali, Valerie Bertinelli, Mila Kunis and Hayden Panettiere.
Full of energy and precocious abilities, four aspiring chefs take over the Chopped Kitchen and face a judging panel featuring actor Billy Gardell and The Kitchen's Marcela Valladolid and Geoffrey Zakarian. In the first round, they must tame the sweetness of some basket items. Pizza is a fine surprise in the entree round, but lamb loins stump some of the young competitors. Then, lemon curd and a fun retro candy get a spin for dessert.
Strange bagels and a strong paste are the featured ingredients in the appetizer round; fresh pasta sheets in the entree round; marshmallows for dessert.
The appetizer basket contains a creepy-crawly snack and fried onions; a canned product is met with disdain in the entree round; several super-sweet items find their way into the dessert basket.
Cookies and veggies are mandatory ingredients in the first round; the chefs are surprised to find a beautiful birthday cake in the entree round basket; for dessert, the chefs must marry salty with sweet.
