Come Dine with Me is a popular Channel 4 television programme shown in the United Kingdom, produced by ITV Studios (formerly known as Granada) and as of 2013, Shiver Productions and first broadcast in January 2005. The show has either four or five amateur chefs competing against each other hosting a dinner party for the other contestants. Each competitor then rates the host's performance with the winner winning a £1,000 cash prize. An element of comedy is added to the show through comedian Dave Lamb, who provides a dry and "bitingly sarcastic" narration.
The format has been taken up by many other broadcasters throughout the world. (source: en.wikipedia.org)
The first week of dinner parties in 2026 comes from Bradford, as more strangers take it in turns to throw the best dinner party in a bid to win £1000. The first host is bank auditor and social media comedian Kulvir, who serves up an East-meets-West menu fusing Punjabi food and British classics.
Jason plans a menu of Yorkshire's finest food on the second evening in Bradford - but keeps throwing his efforts in the bin, while his massive dessert, comprising of five separate dishes, proves too much for Kulvir. Can his entertainment - a band in the back garden - get things rocking and a rolling?
On the third night in Bradford, health and wellbeing coach Gaby hosts a Sardinian soirée, complete with home-made pasta and a garden serenade. She kicks things off by introducing her son, who is roped into singing for her guests - a move that pays off as they seem impressed by the impromptu entertainment. But will they enjoy the cocktails, party tricks and dolce vita dinner that follow?
On the fourth night in Bradford, Reiki master and holistic therapist Akili aims to enchant her guests with exotic elegance and a fusion of flavours. The night kicks off with Jason presenting Tom with an unexpected gift which gets a good laugh but also creates a slightly strained atmosphere. Gaby starts to suspect that Jason might be playing a bit of a game, as she can sense him creating tension at the table. The dessert doesn't go down a treat with everyone, and Kully is confident that his ice cream was better.
On the last night in Bradford, sales director Tom draws on his French heritage for his menu of simple but well-executed dishes but he's convinced that Jason will find fault no matter what he makes, while Jason insists that he will score fairly. Kulvir is equally wary of Jason after having his ghost story questioned the night before. At the table, Akili coins a new word in response to Tom's starter, after finding the other guests a little picky. Gaby requests seasoning for Tom's dishes, while his tart plums almost render her speechless. By the end of the night, all the scores are in and the winner is chosen.
The first in a week of programmes from South Wales. Host Claire plans to forego fine dining in favour of traditional local Welsh produce and farm-themed games.
On the second evening in south Wales, account executive Richard invites his guests to the pub he runs with his partner. Things look promising as he serves up goat's cheese tartlets, sea bass fillets and ginger biscuit cheesecake, while the pub setting proves a smash. But a revelation from Sophie and Claire hits a sour note with Sandra.
Hotel receptionist Daffyd hosts a nutritious dinner party on the third night in south Wales. After a few kitchen mishaps during the day, the night gets off to a competitive start with Sandra challenging the host - an aspiring personal trainer - to a press-up competition.
The fourth to host in south Wales is children's doctor Sophie, who despite usually being a vegan has decided to cook meat for her guests in an attempt to grab the grand. Sophie's night is full of surprises as she reveals a number of hidden talents. Claire is flabbergasted at her job, Richard is shocked at where she went to university, and Sandra thinks she can give her a run for her money at her hidden hobby. The night isn't without incident as Sophie's inexperience at cooking meat comes back to bite her and makes Daffyd uncomfortable.
Civil servant Sandra hosts the final night in south Wales. After a week of culinary highs and lows, Sandra's planning a menu that's heavy on cream and mushrooms - a risky move since her guests have made it very clear throughout the week that these two ingredients are not much-loved. With a new twist shaking things up during dessert, it's a dramatic end to a lively week.
