Season 6 / Episode 5 and airs on 08 December 2025 19:15
A police officer reawakens from a coma that has lasted for 20 years. He has to find out how the world has changed.
After a botched operation, Mick is demoted and sent out onto the streets as a patrol officer. But Andreas is also having problems in his new job at the State Criminal Police Office. His colleagues don't accept him, and his boss Koller believes Andreas is trying to blackmail him. But Andreas has no idea what with. Then Mick finds Koller's body—apparently a suicide. Andreas is convinced that this death is related to the alleged blackmail. What secret did the boss have?
After the attempt on his life, Andreas wants to quit his job at the State Criminal Police Office. But Mick convinces him that he can only protect himself and his family if they solve Koller's death. During his unofficial investigations, Mick comes across a blackmail email involving millions of dollars and a major incident that took place in 2002. But who sent the email? And a file documenting precisely this period is missing from the archives...
At Klaus Koller's funeral, Mick finds no answers. Everyone avoids him. However, he notices that he is being watched. When he tries to confront the fleeing person, the man escapes in a car. But he has seen the car before—in front of his daughter Isa's house! Could she be involved in the case? After further investigation, it becomes clear that the case involves a long-ago coup and immense sums of money.
Mick gains access to a restricted LKA file containing a list of people who were involved in the big heist on New Year's Eve 2001/2002. There is a blacked-out name with seven letters on the list! It is now clear to Mick that the perpetrator must be from the police, the State Criminal Police Office, or the security company. Investigations at the security company reveal that his father worked there at the time. And the name Brisgau has seven letters...
Everything points to Mick having been involved in a serious crime. Apparently, he was not in a coma on New Year's Eve 2001/2002, but was involved in a strange incident involving the transport of millions of Deutschmarks. He himself cannot remember anything, and the hospital staff from that time are virtually untraceable. Normally, Mick would confide in Andreas, but their friendship is pretty much broken...
Now that Mick is suspected of murdering Bundesbank official Höthker, he flees to Monaco. There he wants to track down his father Erwin and question him about the events of New Year's Eve 2001/2002. However, Erwin initially refuses to cooperate and shows Mick his luxurious lifestyle. But then the cop stumbles upon the next hot lead. Meanwhile, back in Germany, Andreas fears for his career because he is allegedly working with Mick.
Mick finally learns from Ferchert and Meisner what actually happened on that fateful New Year's Eve and to what extent he was involved in the crime. Meanwhile, the situation becomes increasingly difficult for Andreas, as his partner Anja is also involved in the case and must somehow divert suspicion away from herself. With Görnemann's death, another person involved in the case is gone. Who will be next?
Mick finally finds out who is responsible for the blackmail and murders and can hardly believe it. Ultimately, he must face his toughest test yet: his adversary has kidnapped Astrid, who is pregnant, and threatens to kill her if Mick doesn't let him go. But Mick doesn't give up so easily. Will he survive this life-and-death duel?
